Swaroop Khandagale grew up in the village of Ratnagiri, India, where his love for nuts, dried fruits, and spices was born—rooted in the rich flavors of Indian cooking and tradition. That early passion stayed with him through a 25-year career in investment banking, until he made the bold move to pursue his dream.
In 2019, Swaroop launched Bluestar Direct from his living room—personally hand-filling every bag and delivering products himself to grocery stores across the tri-state area. He spent weekends listening to store owners, understanding customer preferences, and learning how to build a supply chain that delivers consistent quality and value.
For several years, he balanced his corporate role with this growing business, driven by a simple mission: to make premium, fresh, and reliable products accessible to businesses across North America.
Today, Bluestar Direct is one of the largest importers of cashews in the USA and a leading wholesaler of over 30 varieties of nuts and raisins. With strong supplier relationships internationally and a commitment to strict quality control, Swaroop ensures that every product meets the highest standards.
